Baking

Yesterday, my friend Jacquelin and I had been ordered (joking) to make a dessert for our Taco Lunch at church today.  We decided to make cupcakes because they are usually easy to make.  My mom suggested these really cool chocolate cupcakes with a layer of peanut butter inside.  We made up the batter and started to put the cupcakes together, when we realized that there was not enough chocolate batter for the top layer.  We started to make another batch when we ran out of Peanut Butter.  So we sent mom out to the store to buy Peanut Butter, Butter, and Chocolate Icing.  When we got back, we finished pouring the batter into the liners.  The Peanut Butter mixture stuck through the top layer of chocolate, and made it look like we had stuck some moldy cheese into the cupcakes, so we tried to flatten it out.  It didn't work.  We decided to just put them into the oven, and hope for the best.  This is how they turned out.

Beautiful, right?

We tried them out, and they tasted AWESOME.  But they were not presentable.  Way too ugly.  Mom suggested we just take them to church anyways, and people would be too disgusted to try them, and we would get them back at the end.  But I couldn't bring those in.  I would be SO embarrassed!  We just split up the brownies, 11 for me, and 11 for her.  Jacquelin said
we could just make another batch, but put it in a brownie pan.  So we made two more batches, and stuck it on the oven.

These were the results after the Taco Lunch.  Mom's famous Peanut Butter Bar recipe had been given out to a bunch of people, and someone had made it.  Everyone recognized it and ate it up.  Near the end though, word spread round how great our brownies' were, and they started to get eaten.  We grabbed them before they were all gone though.  So our brownies' were a success!!!  Yay!

(That brownie on the edge just melted in the car.  The brownies' weren't THAT gooey!)

When I was sitting in the car, waiting to go home, Mr. McMullen came up and said, "Hey.  Did you make those Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies?  Well, those were STINKIN' AWESOME!  You'd better give me the recipe sometime!"  And I said yes.  :)

Chinn Bee

Yesterday my mom and I went to a sewing class at the Chinn Library.

I made these really cute " Little Japanese Bags" using only part of 2 fat quarters.
(You might have to become a member to view the directions.)

This is an "Origami Bag."
I couldn't get the directions from the site, but you guys can try.

All of these are really easy to make and only take a couple minutes.
(That is, after you figure it out...)

MAINE

My little brother just left for Maine yesterday with our Grandma.  Grandma gives all her Grandchildren a special trip to anywhere in the US when they turn 10.  Daniel chose to go to Maine, and he's hanging out with Grandma up there for a whole week.  Hopefully I can post some of his pictures on here sometime.  When I turned 10, I went to Arizona and hiked the Grand Canyon, and went White Water Rafting in the Colorado River.  Plus a helicopter ride and a whole bunch more fun stuff.  My brother is going kayaking and a whole bunch of other stuff.  I can't wait to hear about it!!!

There's me in the yellow.

Band Camp Day 3

Today was MUCH better.  Last night I had practiced some more and wrote down all my notes, so it was way easier.  I actually had FUN today! :)

On a Happier Note

Yesterday, my mom had left to her Quilting Bee, while I stayed home and played my trumpet with my dad for a little while.  I usually go to the Quilting Bee with mom, so apparently someone had thought I was going to be there.  One of my mom's friend's (from the Quilting Bee) had been visiting Pennsylvania, and was looking around in some shops.  She had seen this really cute spoon with an owl on it, and bought it for me.
It makes me so happy that someone would buy me a gift, even if we don't know each other too well.  I mean, it's not even a holiday!  I just feel so happy now.  Thanks to Ms. Shirley!

Band Camp Day 2

Okay, so today wasn't really any better.  I got there late, and pretty much forgot all the notes I learned last night.  Plus, all the notes are really high, and I was having trouble hitting them.  Anyways...  I feel like I'm complaining... a lot.

Band Camp

For all of this week I will be going to Band Camp.  Yay!  So today was my first day, and I figured out that Band Camp is a total waste of my time.  No yay.  I got all registered and I played a scale, badly.  So I think I got put in the Beginner group, but they didn't actually tell me.  When I got to my first class, they handed us out some music to play for the concert on Friday.  I took one look at the notes, and knew that this was way too advanced for me.  We started practicing, and I didn't know ANY of the notes.  So I pretended to play along with everybody.  Then pretty soon I got tired of the teachers yelling at the Trumpet section that we need to be louder.  So I gave up pretending that I was playing.  And sat there.  For three hours.  Today I am going to try and figure out some of the notes, so I might actually  have fun tomorrow.  Wish me luck.

Youth Group

I just got back from my first Youth Group meeting type thing.  I loved it!  We played a Pictionary/Telephone game which was really funny, and then watched a movie.  We are learning about grace!  And guess what?  The movie series was called... Grace!!!  This guy named Louis Giglio (giggle) was preaching about, you guessed it!  Grace!  Anyways, it was awesome!!!!!  Plus, as a bonus, there was WATERMELON FLAVORED CUPCAKES!!!  Can you believe that?  How do people come up with this stuff???

FUNNY STORY

Okay, the first suggestion.  Written by Little Miss A.  Funny Stories that I have happened to have Heard.

MY FUNNY STORY:
Um...uh.  Let's see...  I'll just go with The True Story of The Three Little Pigs.  WHICH WAS ACTUALLY WRITTEN BY JON SCIESZKA, NOT ME!!!!  I just re-wrote the same thing, but shorter, and not as good.

  Once upon a Time,
There was a wolf named Alexander.  And he was making a cake for his grandmther.  And he ran out of sugar.  So the wolf went to his neighbor's house.  His neighbor was a pig.  And the pig's house was made of straw.  So when Alexander knocked on the door, it fell down.  Then Alexander started to sneeze.  And the house fell down.  And the pig was just lying there in the middle of  all the straw, dead. So Alexander ate him up.  Then, Alexander went to his other neighbor, who also happened to be a pig.  Whose house was made of sticks.  Alexander knocked on the door.  And the pig said, " Go away wolf.  You can't come in.  I'm shaving the hairs on my chinny chin chin."  Alexander was about to barge on in, but he sneezed and the house fell down, leaving the pig dead in the middle of it all.  So he got eaten, too.  Then, he went to his other neighbor's house, and his neighbor was also a pig, and his house was made of bricks.  And then Alexander asked the pig for some sugar, and he said no.  So Alexander was about to give up and go home, when the pig said that Alexander's grandmother could sit on a pin.  Then the wolf went crazy, and was trying to break down the door, and then the cops showed up, while he was sneezing his head off.  So then the reporters jazzed up the story, by adding the, "huffing and puffing."  So now Alexander is in jail.
       THE END

There, you have it.  And remember.  I did not write this, I just retold it, but worse.  So, Little Miss A, was this what you had in mind? :)

Okay, so Blogger won't let me leave comments, so therefore I can't reply to anyone else's.  I was hoping that this problem wouldn't last, but it's still going.  Anyways, since I can't leave a comment, I will just reply in a post.

Gettin' Ready for School

Okay, so school is still like a month and a half  away, but I need a new backpack.  So, I thought I could make one.  The backpacks at Walmart and Target are good quality, but I don't like the designs.  So, when I was at Hancock Fabric's with my mom, I got 3 yards of 2 different fabrics:

I think they go pretty well together.  Then I remembered that I needed a pattern.  So I decided on a style.  Since I'm gonna be in the 7th Grade, I'll need a good-sized bag that's strong and long lasting.
Strong + Big + Long Lasting = Messenger Bag
So that's what I decided on. So today I finally started looking for a pattern.  What do you think of this one?

I think that the chicken-ish fabric should be on the outside with the other fabric that I have no idea what it is called on the inside.  Hopefully I can get all this done and ready for school!

HAPPY (late) 4TH OF JULY!

Okay, so I was away at my friend's house during the weekend, and we stayed to celebrate the 4th.  You know all that, right?  Anyways, I found this really cool cake thing in a cupcake book, "Hello, Cupcake."  I've been wanting to make it, but it's a flag.  For the 4th of July.  So I waited, and waited, and then, IT WAS THE FOURTH!!!!  So I showed the picture to my friend, and we made it!  The picture isn't too good, so you probably can't see it too well.  It's all made of cupcakes.  The red mini cupcakes were placed on top of the bigger white cupcakes to form the red stripes.  Anyways, it took a total of 94-96 cupcakes to make!!!  That's a lot!  We spent all morning just preparing for the fun part, the DECORATING!  On each of the red cupcakes is some type of goody, like gummi bears, or jelly beans, or something like that.  And on top of the blue cupcakes are sprinkles.  So... do you like it?

I think I kinda forgot what I put for the title...

HAPPY (late)  FOURTH, EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope you all had a great time with glow sticks and fire works, and whatever things you usually do.  I hope you remembered to put your flag out!!!

SORRY!

Hey you guys.  I'm SO sorry that I haven't posted for so long.  I was having an awesome vacation with my BFF, Amelia, and her family in North Carolina.  Anyways, I had a great time!!!  We went to the beach, (where I got a MAJOR sunburn, with blisters all over my face)  and the saw the Fourth of July fireworks.  We also made this AWESOME cake for the 4th.  I'll be sure to post it, sooner or later...
